Dino Super Charge Episode 8 “Riches and Rags” Review

Episode Review

The Mid-Season Finale of Power Rangers Dino Super Charge was a fun romp with a lot of focus on Ivan! There were tiny sprinkles of the other characters as we’ve come to know in Dino Charge but Ivan took center stage. Let’s take a look back at a few moments I enjoyed during “Riches and Rags”

Ivan: Davi Santos is clearly the star of this episode and showed his stardom throughout the entire episode. One thing that can be said for this actor is that he always has his star shining bright even when he is in the background or acting out a scene which isn’t necessarily funny. It’s his facial expressions, movements and mannerisms that make the tiny moments hilarious! We’ve seen this throughout the entire season and I can’t wait for more!

Ivan At The Bank: This was 100% the funniest scene in the entire episode, in an episode that was full of funny moments. Ivan expects he can withdraw a gold bar from the bank. He also thinks it’s okay to withdraw his sword at the bank, as such hilarity ensues. As stated earlier, Ivan (Davi Santos) is by far the star of the episode winning us over with his iconic goofy faces. It doesn’t take much for us to laugh at Ivan as he stumbles through his time in Amber Beach and it couldn’t be more funny!

Tyler & Chase’s Obsession: While playing second fiddle to Ivan, Chase and Tyler become under the spell of Spell Digger and become obsessed with the gold coins he is spreading. Again, not only with Davi Santos, but this entire cast knows how to carry a scene with just their tiny mannerisms and facial expressions. This is a clear distinction from other casts such as the Samurai or Megaforce casts who didn’t have that kind of comedic flair. Throughout the entire episodes you were watching Chase and Tyler just to see what goofy antics they were getting into!
Watching Chase and Tyler fall to the ground over coins, stuff their shorts and get those classic money glowing eyes was the best!

Singe’s Secret: In the latter part of the episode, Fury catches Singe speaking to someone through some sort of communication device informing the person on the other line of Heckyl’s activities. Singe claimed he was talking to his Dear Old Grandmama, *giggle* , but here is where the plot thickens! Sledge, before being destroyed, had mentioned in the previous season of having an employer. Could Singe be speaking to him? As I said, the PLOT THICKENS!

Mr. Smith’s Assistant, Miss Sandra: I laughed particularly hard at the scene where Ivan and Mr. Smith fight to give away the $2 Million check, but it was even more hilarious when his assistant went after Ivan! That lady was a laugh riot; she was always ready for an attack!

Final Thoughts

While the episode was a rather hilarious filler episode, worth the watch, was it really a good place to stop for the hiatus? Only time will tell when Power Rangers Dino Super Charge returns and we get a better idea at where the story and plot are intended to go. While we were left on a hilarious note, it was not a powerful one. However, I love laughing at the goofy side of Power Rangers so this idea is easily overlooked!
