Ressha Sentai ToQger: Station 16 Review

TOOT-TOOT RESSHA SENTAI TOQGER. Let’s go! Today’s episode is entitled: “A Dangerous Special Train.”

We pick up today’s episode from last week’s ending where General Schwarz saves Hammer Shadow from the ToQgers final attack for a master plan…

He connects Hammer Shadow to the train’s system to transform the Darkliner into a magical land of dream crushing.

As the Darkliner approaches the ToQgers, the team transforms to take on their foe!

We meet Kakeru (a boy) and Aoi (his sister) at a playground with other children. The Darkliner goes through and picks up the children, ie. very child molester-y to me. Anyways, the ToQgers try to stop the children boarding the train but to no avail, so they hop on the disembarking train.

Aoi piggybacks onto Kagura and Tokatti. Right, Mio, and Hikari are nowhere to be found.

The three begin to search the train but instead find a water park with the kids and hula-ing Crows. WTF IS THIS SHOW SOMETIMES. The train is a luxury line where it makes the children’s dreams come true….

As they continue their search, they find Right, Tokatti, and Hikari scarfing down their favorite foods and do not want to leave.

Tokatti, Kagura, and Aoi find Kakeru in a space theme room, but General Schwarz finds them and kicks them out. Kagura and Tokatti decide to use the Police Ressha, but Aoi wants to help. Sadly, she doesn’t have an imagination so she can’t see the Police Ressha.

As Aoi has a really boring soliloquy, she begins to imagine her brother and her flying an airplane. SHE CAN IMAGINE AGAIN. COOL. LETS MOVE THIS PLOT ALONG.

Kagura, Tokatti, and Aoi board the Police Ressha and go after the Darkliner. They jump trains and find deep darkness plus crying kids.

While fighting Crows and Schwarz, Kagura imagines beating Right, Mio, and Hikari with a fan to wake them up from their food delusion. The three take on Schwarz, Kagura lets the children go freeeeee, and Tokatti….

….Captures the Darkliner with the Police Ressha’s gigantic handcuff and gun.

The team calls upon the Coupling Bazzoka and Kagura uses “1 Million Paper Fan Combo” as the Rainbow Rush finisher for this week. The fan literally destroys the monster by whacking it over and over. So that’s a thing.

Hammer Shadow grows and the ToQgers call upon Super ToQ-Oh (Cho ToQ-Oh) to fight him. He uses his final attack, “Hammer Crash,” on Super ToQ-Oh, which disconnects the trains from each other. THEY LOST?? BUT WAIT. The trains suddenly recouple and Super ToQ-Oh is back to give Hammer Shadow his final hammering. See what I did there?

They use “Full Burst Finish” to send Hammer Shadow packing.

On the Rainbow Line, Wagon feeds the group and gives Mr. Conductor a package…

Which contains the Build Ressha and AppliChanger. SO PUMPED.

ARE WE NOT GONNA TALK ABOUT HOW MR. CONDUCTOR TALKS ABOUT “HIGHER UPS??!” WHO THE FUCK ARE THE HIGHER UPS???!??!?!

And we are left with a final shot of ToQ6 Rokugo, coming next week on ToQger! Yasssssssss.

Review

Not gonna lie, I hated the plot of a water park dreamland in a train (Aoi and Kakeru were kind of annoying too). No new mecha combos, no Grita trying to stab Zed, no character development, just blah. I almost feel like today’s episode was basically just to get to the last 2 minutes of Wagon giving Mr. Conductor the package. With that being said, I AM SO HAPPY FOR ToQ6 TO APPEAR. I love his iPhone morpher and light stick/sword. And that Easter egg about “higher ups” is really awesome as well. So I would give this episode a 4 out of 10 for the first 20 minutes and a 10 out of 10 for the last 2 minutes. I don’t know if that’s allowed, but who cares, it’s my review, deal with it. haha

Until next time, this has been SimplyScott1/PowerSentai. Stay imaginative!
