Ressha Sentai ToQger: Station 4 Review

TOOT-TOOT RESSHA SENTAI TOQGER. Let’s go! Today’s episode is entitled: “Don’t Forget Your Personal Belongings!”

In today’s episode, we start off with Wagon saying hello to a boy who can see her; this being because he still has imagination. His father takes him away since he’s old, has no imagination, and can’t see Wagon.

This bitch is thirsty for Daddy.

Anyways, the ToQgers have a three hour delay and decide to go out on the town for some fun. Right wants food, Mio wants to exercise, Kagura wants to shop, and Tokatti wants to strengthen his imagination. (Is it just me or does Hikari blend into the background? They never said what he wanted to do. I want more character development for him.)

But then Kagura tells the team that their boarding passes are also bottomless credit cards, so everyone loses it. Tokatti now wants to go on an educational shopping spree now!

After Tokatti gets back from his shopping spree, Wagon reveals that the team members have to pay off their credit cards eventually. I’m guessing with sexual favors, etc. Just a thought. hahahah

At the Shadow Line Station, General Schwarz wants to get up close with the ToQger trains so he can build similar Shadow trains with comparable power and options. Grita wants to help him and I’m over this infatuation plot already so fucking much.

Back at the ToQger trains, Tokatti can’t find his boarding pass! THE HORROR.

Mr. Conductor and Ticket won’t bend the rules for Tokatti. No boarding pass means no boarding the train. Right and Tokatti try to move the entry station. hahaha

Mr. Conductor tells Tokatti to follow them on foot to the station taken over by the Shadow Line. What a bitch. Mio volunteers to go with Tokatti by taxi so he won’t be alone. They show up to the battle by taxi cab. Love. All the ToQgers change and begin to fight “Shadow Coal,” this week’s monster. He likes to shoot coal at people out of his furnace body and then set them on fire just to make them angry. Typical.

I think every week the monster is going to call out the team’s BS. I absolutely love this. Shadow Coal runs off and the team follows. Tokatti and Mio take a bus and hike up a mountain to meet the rest of the team.

Right, Hikari, and Kagura begin to fight Shadow Coal on a dam.

Back at the top of the mountain, Mio and Tokatti have an existential crisis. Mio worries her immigration isn’t strong enough and Tokatti feels useless. During this discussion, Mio falls off a cliff and Tokatti grabs her arm. This reminds them of a time in their childhood where the same situation happened (Mio falling off a tree and Tokatti saving her).

Remembering just a little bit of their past and how they help the team out, (Mio helps everyone and Tokatti is dependable) allows them to move on to help the rest of the team in battle!

At that same moment, Wagon drops off Tokatti’s pass that she found under the furnace. Apparently when he stumbled into the train from his shopping spree, the pass fell underneath the furnace. UNLUCKY.

As ToQ 2 & 3 arrive, the train’s PA (Ticket) says they were delayed. I love this detail.

After transforming, Mio and Tokatti switch colors/powers.

As well as ToQ 1, 4, and 5. I love all of this color swapping/gender changing suits. I have a feeling the Power Ranger’s version will have a lot of great one-liner jokes about the topic.

The team fights the Crows and Shadow Coal, but switch colors back to normal so they can use their final attack. This week’s Coupling Bazooka final attack was the “Rubber Snapping” special. This attack attached a rubber band from the cannon to the monster and snapped him back when released. WOW.

Shadow Coal dies and grows large. The team calls upon ToQ-Oh, but the Shadow Line sends TWO trains that turn into Darkliner Robos. I want this toy. Right now.

The trio of monsters prove to be a menace for the team so Ticket pops out of Right’s driver booth smoke-stack to give him the Shield Express Ressha.

And Right asks a very deep question.

Right calls upon the Shield Express, but is moving so fast that it hits ToQ-Oh. ToQ-Oh gets back up on his feet and releases the front of Pink Ressha’s train to dock with the Shield Express.

The team uses Shield Express’ “Signal Shield” to defend against attacks. Then they use “Signal Shield Beam” to send Shadow Coal back to the coal mines. Wow, look at me go today.

After this, General Schwarz appears on top of the main Shadow Line train to explain that he wants to take over the ToQger’s trains.

Right says no. General Schwarz then lists off his exact title while rose pedals fall to the ground. He is one scary bad ass.

After the battle, the ToQgers clean the train to pay off their boarding pass balances. As Tokatti cleans the ceiling, he falls off his ladder onto Mio and accidentally kisses her.

Mio slaps the shit out of him. Look at that red mark. Beautiful.

Review

I really loved this episode, because let’s be honest, I love Tokatti. A lot. haha The background childhood story was a little boring this week, but I did like the lost boarding pass plot. A lot of great one-liners in this episode as well. The Shield Express was really pretty and rainbow-y as well. My only complaint with this season so far is the Grita plot, because it’s just so creepy and the same thing each week. At least with the childhood memories we get closer to answering how the ToQgers became ToQgers (ie. death). Also, I want more Hikari character development. He’s boring. I give this episode a 7.5/10! Next week we get the Car Carrier Ressha!

Until next time, this has been SimplyScott1/PowerSentai. Stay imaginative!
