Preface

Yo, Once and Always came out on Netflix! Go watch it now!

Why would this matter now? This is literally not on anyone’s priority list at the moment. I’m sorry, but it’s true.

The Cover

Alpha, you’re a severed head on a table. Get out of here.

The Story

The walking meatball put on clothes. Everyone’s terrified of him now. Next.

While Xi interrogates the Alpha head for info, everyone on Safehaven is getting worried that none of the Rangers have gotten any communication from Earth. Soon, they learn that the attack on Safehaven was a distraction. Mistress Vile is heading to Promethea where Earth’s navigator is located. Right as the Ed Ranger is about to grab it for himself, she arrives with her vessel companion.

And, As it turns out, things are going down as a brainwashed Matt is now playing for the other team. He and his Putties invade the Juice Bar, leaving only Tommy and Billy to fight him off. Oh, and Jason’s there too. For five seconds.

And, so the issue ends with someone literally coming through the front door of the Rangers’ base on Safehaven, right into their vault of locked up villains, and freeing Kiya, the previous Omega Blue Ranger. Who is it? Who else would it be?

That’s right. We’re going to save the world… with the power of AI, baby!

Ending Thoughts

I need to watch Once and Always! So, let me sum this up quickly!

This issue has Zedd showing how “awesome” he is with his powers, which as I said, is just him putting on clothes when you really think about it. It’s also mainly about Matt’s evil monologuing and I’m just sighing seeing it. It’s what we expected from Matt since the new Green Ranger was introduced. About fifty chapters ago! It doesn’t do anything interesting with it. It doesn’t do anything that new with it, either. It’s just there and I want it to end, but not in a good way. Also, the ending reveal of Drakkon and Kiya was unexpected, yet I don’t believe it was executed the best way possible.

I will say that even though the plot twist with Zordon’s body being Rita’s vessel was something we all saw a mile away, I still like the idea of Rita using a part of Zordon’s backstory that was severely overlooked. And, it does elevate the fight between him and Zedd because the Vessel being merciless in its fighting is what Zordon could have been like following Zedd’s command. It’s very interesting.

MMPR #107 is a fine re-versioning of Green with Evil, only with fewer comic effects.

Random Thoughts from the Morphin’ Grid

  • Stealing Morphin’ energy in this manner just feels the same as someone stealing your cable or your Netflix password. Speaking of Netflix!
  • Yeah, yeah, red hallway. I get it. Sure.
  • Yale! You have a nose better than humans and you don’t recognize the scent of a man for a long time and Drakkon literally strolls right by you. What the helmet?! That’s it! You are on my list!
  • By the way, can Jason go to the hospital now? He got slashed by a sword unmorphed. I want to see blood!
  • Art’s kind of weird with the second to last page, the last panel. Because the coloring on the person makes it look like Kiya was the one kneeling in front of the dumpster, which wouldn’t make any goddamn sense.
