Ninja Steel Episode 19 “Helping Hand” Review

“Helping Hand” was cute I gotta say that about it. I was expecting something a little more from the episode directly before the Finale episode, but of course instead we were treated to a funny filler episode. However, it was so hard not to fall in love with Sarah’s mom! It was hard to sit down and laugh along with any scene she was in! This episode though did seem to have a decent amount of balance between comedy (whether it was Sarah’s mom getting her daughter messy), gaining the Ultimate Megazord combination or Victor & Monty literally ruining the Ninja Steel Power Rangers. Let’s take a look back at some of the moments!

Sarah & Her Mom: From the beginning of the episode I could see that Sarah’s Mom was  going to be adorable and she didn’t disappoint. You could see that Sarah got her technological genius from her mother when she enters the garage with a new invention that can feed you juice and  toast. Of course, hilarity has to ensue when her mom’s inventions go awry. I actually kind of liked these moments from the wacky mom such as when the jellied toast went all over Sarah’s face or when the juice squirted all over her! Sadly for Sarah, and for her mom’s feelings, she was none too happy.
When Sarah’s mom tries to help her by adding a bit of a boost to her hover board and things go very wrong, Sarah gets a little harsh with her. I will say, it was hard to stay on Sarah’s side during these moments. Sarah’s mom was nothing but sweetness during the episode and as the episode taught us was “just trying to help.” Sarah basically told her mom that she was in the way and didn’t need her help; a heart breaking moment from such a sweet character.
At the end of the episode I was happy to see that Sarah’s mom was just the perfect mom she had been the entire show. She was just full of sunshine and smiling ready to accept her daughters apology. Even with Sarah’s pouty lip, we all had to forgive her!

Forcefear: Ok I really hate his name. From a season that is having a great record at having fabulous monster names, this one is a dud. Also, yes I get that the name is a pun, but it’s still lame IMO. His voice actor however was a little goofier which made him stand out from the other monsters this season. He sort of sounded baby-ish with a dash of “uh-yuk” added in. Forcefear had the power of invincible force fields that became even more powerful when he became Gigantified.
Thanks to the Ninja Ultrazord all it took was some epic cannons to destroy Forcefear’s force fields!

Throwing Levi & Preston: At a point during the first go at Forcefear, Brody notices that he may be a little too strong for them; even with the Lion Fire Armor. Together the three of them decide that it would be a good idea to use Preston and Levi as weapons. Well, that was certainly an interesting attack right? I mean who doesn’t think of throwing two of their friends at a monster!? It didn’t quite go as planned….

Needing More Ninja Steel: In the Ninja Nexus Prism a vision appeared before the Rangers showing that all 3 Megazords could be combined. However, they would need a new Ninja Power Star to complete the transformation. We’d been through this before. I guess though, that even now there was still a tiny bit of Ninja Steel left in the trophy but from now on they’d have to melt down existing Ninja Power Stars or search the galaxy for more Ninja Steel.
Luckily, one tiny sheet was found in the trophy to make the new Ninja Ultra Star and Mick (along with the other Rangers) scanning the universe was able to find an asteroid of Ninja Steel heading towards Earth! Could it be Super Ninja Steel?

Redbot’s Lesson: After the Ninja Star had been forged and was ready to be thrown into the Ninja Nexus Prism it somehow bounced off and wouldn’t enter. No one could figure it out, so Sarah began asking Redbot questions. Over and over she berated him with questions about the shape and size etc. Eventually, Redbot put a stop to her questions and said that the star was up to par with a Megazord Ninja Power Star and should work. Sarah looked down and apologized saying she was just trying to help. Suddenly, she realized that this was exactly how she had treated her mother. Redbot apologized for being impatient and Sarah had learned her lesson.
This type of scene is one of the things I love about Ninja Steel, while it may seem obvious the life lessons that are being taught; the Rangers are coming to their own conclusions or are being led their by their mentors!

Ninja Ultrazord: Some Big Trouble in Little Summer Cove! This thing is a seriously ugly clusterf*ck.
But I will say that it’s totally cool that the Megazord’s blast out at you into the screen! Epic!

Brody Shares His Toys!: While she didn’t get to use it much it was  great to see Sarah with the Ninja Master Blade!
I really wish they had filmed footage of each Ranger using the finishing move!

Victor & Monty Reach New Lows: Victor and Monty for their extra credit project to build a powerful magnet that detects & retrieves any kind of metal. It had proved to be a little touchy earlier in the episode when it caused a lot of trash to head their way.
However, at the end of the episode Victor decided it was a good idea to turn it up full blast. Since earlier in the episode Mick and the Rangers had spread out all of the Ninja Power Stars in the lab (minus the Morph Stars) the magnet attracted them and sent them flying over to the magnet! Out of no where a Buzz Cam noticed this and suddenly Madame Odius, Galvanax and a small army of Basher Bots appear!
Now, thanks to Victor and Monty the villains have obtained almost all over the Power  Rangers’ arsenal which includes the Zords!
Of course, Galvanax was rather happy with them for doing all of his work (even though Victor was ready to throw Monty under the bus). I felt no sympathy for them as they were taken prisoner by Madame Odius! Off the plank with them!

Season Finale: Another epic moment came from Galvanax as he gathered all his newest treasures and declared that this Season’s Finale is going to be one to remember as he finally takes the Power Rangers Ninja Power Stars! Can he do it?!

I would have to say that “Helping Hand” was a pretty cute episode as several of the later Ninja Steel filler episodes have been.
However, after that ending I am so ready to see the Finale that will lead us into Super Ninja Steel in 2018!
Are you hyped? Because I am hyped!
No new episode next week, The Finale Episode “Galvanax Attacks” airs 11/18!
