Ninja Steel Episode 3 “Live and Learn” Review

“Live and Learn” was a pretty decent episode featuring a good moral of the power inside and teamwork!
This episode featured our first look at the Rangers’ new Megazord, a New Base and of course the flashy new training uniforms and Ninja Master Mode! Let’s take a look back at some of the better moments of the episode!

The New Base: Well, they certainly built that base pretty quick didn’t they? However, I have to say it does look pretty cool! I am loving the placement of the Ninja Nexus Prism! I also found it interesting that they are able to melt and meld the Ninja Steel in their base. I mean, it’s pretty obvious they were going to do that but I just thought it was an interesting idea that they are able to do everything in one place. We saw it in episode 2, but I’m also really enjoying that the formed Ninja throwing stars are literally thrown into the Ninja Nexus Prism and are then created into Ninja Power Stars. Very creative!

The Element Stars: I loved the scene where Calvin tested out the Water Mode of the Element Power Stars!
I got a little laugh out of that scene when he flew out of frame as the water jet took the sword over. The others were quick to leave after Brody suggested trying out the Fire mode. Classic.

The Ninja Training Suits: I’m also a big fan of the cool new Ninja Training suits the Rangers are wearing now! They look rather sleek! They kind of remind of the Batman rubber suit material from the 90’s movies.

Brody’s Lesson: Brody began the episode not understanding why he couldn’t basically cheat on the quiz answers. He relied heavily on his data comm, which we saw from the very beginning as he would even rely on it to tell him how to defeat the monsters. But, I did like the lesson learned in this episode. It was more about the fact that being a Ranger and being strong came from within and that he never needed the data comm to begin with. His scene with Mick was rather touching as well, it was just up to Brody to realize that the power came from inside and not the data comm!
As I mentioned above I did enjoy the moral learned that Brody’s power came from inside, but what happened to the cheating moral? I understand here that Brody hasn’t been to school since he was 8, but the cheating subplot was just dropped after Mrs. Finch caught him using the data comm.

Victor and Monty: I don’t know about you, but I am really enjoying these two. Normally the slapstick of the comic relief is kind of tacky and I don’t find it too funny or entertaining. But, I gotta say that Victor and Monty are really entertaining me so far. Caleb Bendit and Chris Reid really know how to work off of each other and its rather fun to watch. So far in the last two episodes we’ve seen them get messy and get blasted in the face. I just hope that isn’t the running gag in every single episode, otherwise it could get boring. But I’m entertained for now!

Calvin’s Ride: As if Calvin screwing up the Water Mode couldn’t get any funnier; Calvin tried it one more time, only this time he succeeded by riding the wave of water like a broomstick! Now, that was hilarious. Classic, random Power Rangers craziness.

Spinferno’s Failure: The Rangers finally caught up to Spinferno and used their new Element Power Stars to finish him off!
I was also wondering if at some point, since the judges to make a monster grow are the other monsters in the audience, they would vote No. Well, it did happen! The audience voted a No on the growing, but Cosmo Royale decided to send down a Skullgator to battle the Rangers in their newly formed Megazord! Btw, those things are creepy as hell!

Ninja Master Mode: As many of you reading this may know I am a huge fan of the Megazord Cockpit Power Ups. I know, I know you may also be saying that they are pretty useless, never come out of the cockpit and are just for toy sales. BUT, I am all about flair and making it showy! These suit additions are pretty cool and the new Ninja Master Blade is really badass! I mean how cool is this blade? It revs up like a chainsaw! That’s totally awesome!
I did however, have a slight issue. Why was Brody the only one with the kick ass new Blade? Rude.

Ninja Comms: I was really happy that all of the Rangers got their own Ninja Comm, it gives you a lot of Nostalgia feels for Mighty Morphin’ and of course back to Dino Thunder because it’s the same sound!

All in all “Live and Learn” was a pretty decent episode. We got a lot of Brody focus, but I am looking forward to more focus on the other Rangers which seems to be coming up in future episodes. I also want to know more about the Villains, I would like to spend more time with them then we have so far. Again, I may be comparing Ninja Steel to Dino Charge a bit too much because we spent a lot of time with Sledge, Poisandra and the gang.
But, Like I said it was a pretty decent episode this week! As Cosmo Royale would say “See Ya Next Week!”
