Power Rangers Figure Variations!

toys toys toys

Have you ever wondered how many variations of figures that Bandai of America has created over the years? Some are kinda awesome, and some are kinda not, and you get to see all of them right here!

(information and images taken from grngrnr.com)

MMPR

Deluxe Figures: Being the first Power Rangers figures ever released, they featured full articulation of the arms, hands, legs and heads; Karate Kickin’/Choppin’: These were deluxe figures with an added feature. Red, Pink and Black had the Karate Kickin’ feature, while Yellow and Blue had the Karate Choppin’ feature; Auto-Morphin’: These special figures featured the ability to morph between the civilian and Ranger identities by pressing down on the Power Morpher; Deluxe Talking: These were deluxe figures with added SFX that said phrases from the show!

ZEO

Action Feature: These were the standard 5″ figures with special features. For example, the Red Ranger had Sword Action, the Blue Ranger had Axe Action, the Green Ranger had Hatchet Action, the Yellow Ranger had Double-Club Action, the Pink Ranger had Shield-Spinning Sction, and the Gold Ranger had Staff-Whirling Action; Zord Morphin’: This line only consisted of the Red, Blue and Green Rangers, and these figures could morph between their Ranger forms and their respective Zords.

TURBO

Card Set: This set came with 5 trading cards and a (poor quality) figure.

 IN SPACE

Battilized: Not only did the season itself feature the first Red Battilized Ranger, but it naturally also featured the first Battilized Ranger figures; Deluxe Talking Armor: This line featured the Red, Blue, Black and Silver Rangers, and they included armor, weapons, and special SFX!

LOST GALAXY

Deluxe Auto-Morphin’: This was a deluxe Auto-Morphin’ figure that could be controlled using the Transmorpher remote!

 LIGHTSPEED RESCUE

Chromalline: For some reason, the Lost Galaxy 5″ figures were re-released with a chrome-plated chest; Mega Battle: These figures came in a set with an exclusive CD-ROM!

TIME FORCE

Talking Ultra: This line of Talking Ultra figures were essentially talking Barbie dolls. They came with the civilian heads of the Rangers and their helmet, Chrono Blaster, and Chrono Saber.

WILD FORCE

5″: The Wild Force line had the worst 5″ figures, which had hardly any articulation besides the arms; Spin-Morphin’: A fun twist was added to the classic Auto-Morphin’ figures! Now, by pressing down on the figures’ leg, it would spin and morph between civilian and Ranger modes!

 NINJA STORM

Flash Ninja: A new feature was added to the 5″ figures, which included a light-up symbol on the Rangers’ chests; Ninja Battle: This line of figures featured the Wind Rangers, a weapon, and a pop-on armor accessory; Triple Zord Morphin’: These (fugly) figures were released and included 3 interchangeable modes!

DINO THUNDER

12″: This line of 12″ figures consisted of the Red, Blue, and Black Rangers.

 S.P.D.

Light Patrol: The 5″ figures featured a different light-up effect on the helmet; Cyber Arm: This line of releases were essentially the 5″ figures with a random giant robot arm attached to it. I personally own the Blue Cyber Arm figure, and it can’t even stand up on its own.

 MYSTIC FORCE

Mystic Light: The standard 5″ figures came with a light-up shield that had the Rangers’ respective symbols; Mystic Sound: These Legendary Mode figures featured switchable heads and talking SFX!

 OPERATION OVERDRIVE

Turbo Drill: An odd vehicle-like figure; Moto-Morph: This line of figures were able to change between Ranger(s)/Zord(s).

JUNGLE FURY

Sound Fury: The Jungle Fury 5″ figures feature complete articulation (even with the feet) and also included sound!

RPM

RPM had no unique variations.

MMPR REVERSION

4″: The MMPR Reversion introduced us to the newly-sized 4″ figures, which we would see until the Super Megaforce toyline; Action: The Action Ranger figures consisted of the Red, Blue and Black Rangers with a giant dino arm; Mix ‘n Morph: These collectible mini figures were able to be combined/swapped with each other using either the 2010 Titanus or Power Morpher.

(Re-live all of the horrors of the MMPR Reversion toyline here!)

SUPER/SAMURAI

Sword Morphin’: These figures had a tab on the back that, when pressed, would slash said-sword; Figuarts: These highly-detailed and very costly (but 100% worth it) figures saw their first U.S. release with ShikenRed and ShinkenGold.

MEGAFORCE

Tokyo Vinyl: These blocky figures were available in Red and Blue; Ultra Morphin’:  This line of figures had chests that would pop-open and sport the Ultra Mode chest armor; Armored Ultra Mode: These figures on steroids came in Red, Blue, Robo Knight, and MMPR Red and White. They featured armor, weapons, and exclusive cards; Deluxe Mega: These figures, though nicely detailed, featured SFX and no articulation.

SUPER MEGAFORCE

4″: Even though the Super Megaforce toyline saw the return of the standard 5″ figures, Bandai decided to make cheap 4″ figures that have almost no articulation and are poorly detailed; Zord Armor: These sets included more poorly detailed figures, with added Zord Armor to try to make it okay.

DINO CHARGE

Armored: These upcoming figures were displayed at Toy Fair, and they only charged up a lot of discussion and speculation! Will we see these suits in the show, or are these just a figure exclusive? Only time will tell!

What figures do you like and hope to see more of in the future? Which ones do you hate?
