ToQger Spring Break Special

TOOT-TOOT RESSHA SENTAI TOQGER. Let’s go! Today’s episode is a Special Spring Break combo episode!!

I have watched all of the episodes from Kamen Rider Giam so far, so I will try my best with accuracy of names, but will mostly focus on the ToQgers more since this is a Power Rangers/Sentai site in all. Just wanted to throw that out there from beginning.

We start off with Kagura drawing the city the they use to live in. How cute.

The train stops at Zawame City, home of Yggdrasill Corporation and Kamen Rider Gaim. And fruit. And monsters. And crazy corporations. And dancers. And gays. Cool?

YEAH AND THAT TOWER CAN KILL YOU.

Kagura wants to visit Oren Pierre Alfonzo’s bakery. The gayest and sassiest baker you’ll ever meet.

Suddenly a mole creature appears and the ToQgers and Kouta transform into trains and an orange.

And thus begins the Kamen Rider Gaim vs Ressha Sentai ToQger spring break special!

Mr. Mole is from the Badan Underground Empire, not an Inves or Shadow Line villain. The mole digs a hole to bring one of his monsters forth, but instead creates a zipper that an Inves monster comes out of. (These zippers in Gaim connect the deadly/psychedelic Hellheim Forest with the real world as the Inves monsters try to infect Earth. In a nut shell.)

Mai breaking the fourth wall and giving commentary on ToQger switching colors basically made me die.

Right enters the Hellheim Forest after Kouta and demorphs to try to eat a fruit. Luckily Kouta stops him and they begin to talk.

They introduce their selves and Kouta tries to explain wtf is happening in Zawame City.

Mitchy, Tokatti, and Hikari sitting at a parfait parlor table discussing things. Wonderful.

Right decides to take Kouta on the train, but is stopped by Narutaki who must be related to Mr. Conductor and Ticket.

He gives Kouta an orange train pass. Now, this may be coincidence since Kouta is an orange rider, but it makes me wonder if Narutaki might come back into the story for ToQ6’s reveal later on….. IDK.

They are also the reverse in that they wear all tan and no rainbow colors. Interesting choice.

Kouta boards the train to a surprised Mr. Conductor. Mai takes Kagura and Mio on a shopping spree and Kagura opens up about their lost path to remembering home.

Back on the train, Right, Tokatti, and Hikari push past Mr. Conductor to fight with Kouta against the Inves, even if they aren’t a Shadow Line enemy.

I think Right basically gave me my new favorite quote.

The train squad is full-steam ahead against the new Inves monster (that Mr. Mole brought once again). I love train rhythmic attacks.

The ToQgers use Scope Express to slash and blast the Inves monster away.

Next, the hurt Inves eats a Hellheim fruit and grows large, which does not happen in the Kamen Rider world.

Since the ToQgers are in town, they use ToQ-Oh Car Carrier Tank to take on the overgrown Inves. AND since they just got the Tank mecha last episode.

During the megazord fight, Takatora doesn’t see the fight outside the window. I giggled at this for awhile.

Finishing the Inves monster off, the ToQgers use Car Carrier Tank Shot to kill that pesky weed.

After the fight, Right takes Mai on the train. Tokatti has to pay for her lunch. I love his facial expressions. I love Tokatti. And that concludes today’s Tokatti gush.

Apparently Right kidnapped Mai, because Kouta wanted her to be safe from the Inves infection. HOW SWEET?!?

The train stops at the next stop and Mai gets off since Wagon basically spilled the beans about her kidnapping.

Also, these fruit puns never, ever get old. Ever.

We now find Mai tied to a pillar (she was kidnapped again shortly after departing the train) while Mitchy & Kaito (BANANA MAN) try to lure Mr. Mole out so they can save her.

But Mr. Mole has brought a duplicate brother into the world so as one fights Mitchy & Kaito, the other watches over Mai. Right and Kouta save Mai.

Now that both Moles are together and Mai has been freed, the Gaim Riders and Right begin an epic fight.

The rest of the ToQgers appear. I love these people.

As the fight continues (SURPRISE THEY’RE IN A CONTAINER GRAVEYARD NOW FOR NO REASON), Kamen Rider Fifteen appears and slays the ToQgers and Kouta.

The Showa Riders appear and the music goes 70’s porno and it’s fantastic. (Both random appearances from these guys is a tie-in to the Kamen Rider film out soon.)

To destroy one Mole, the ToQgers use the final Coupling Bazooka attack “Whack-A-Mole.” The writers saw the opportunity and they took it. Oh my god yes. I laughed for at least a minute.

And for the other mole, Kouta uses the new Triumph lock seed to destroy him. His weapon is a DJ turntable sword/gun. Obsessed.

Review

As a watcher of Kamen Rider Gaim and ToQger, I loved the overlap of stories and the humor that comes from both wacky series. Although some character appearances are marketing stunts, I enjoyed the campiness of it all. Loved the new mecha combo as well as the Coupling Bazooka finisher. For bringing two vastly different stories together and making it work, I give this special a 8 out of 10. I hope I made you Kamen Rider watchers proud and the Sentai people understand the clusterfuck that this special was. See you soon with a normal review!

Until next time, this has been SimplyScott1/PowerSentai. Stay imaginative!
