Super Megaforce Episode 6 “Spirit of the Tiger” Episode Review

Besides the fun fan romp in the previous episode, “Spirit of the Tiger” proved to keep the momentum of Power Ranger nostalgia going.
Jungle Fury is my second favorite season and to have elements, and The Red  Ranger return for this episode truly made me happy.
In this episode we saw a few things we hadn’t seen before including real interaction between the Rangers, New emotions from Troy and an episode full of Fury!

The Zoo Scenes, were beautifully shot and a welcome scene change from the previous Super Megaforce episodes!
It was also a perfect way to introduce Casey who works with the tigers!

The Pai Zhua Symbol, when Emma and Gia discover the Pai Zhua symbol on Casey’s jacket was one of those moments that made this episode so fantastic. It was also great to hear the Rangers mention the Pai Zhua and their symbol!
I am so glad that the Database is at least helping the Rangers discover the Legendary Ranger teams and more!

Different Interactions, I was very happy to see Rangers that have previously not had much interaction interact together! The scenes with Emma and Jake were rather refreshing, something this show hadn’t seen in a few episodes. Gia and Noah even bonded over the Legendary Database. Troy seemed to be left on his own during this episode which is what we’ve come to expect! The fact that the writers added in a small line for Jake to ask Emma about Gia was genius!
I would love to see more of these interactions in the future!

Losing their Weapons, I was a little alerted to Troy during these scenes after the Ranger team lost their weapons in battle. Troy seemed  rather biffed when the Rangers made light of losing their weapons. I found it interesting that this emotion came out of no where with Troy. As we’ve seen him before Troy was very demure, strong and composed. All of a sudden he is forceful, abrasive and angry. I was not a fan of this, but I do think that allowing Troy to show more emotional range is a good thing!

Casey, I can’t get over how amazing this moment was to see as Casey finally revealed his face to Jake and Emma! When they first showed him during the Tiger’s feeding but he didn’t show his face, it almost didn’t feel real until his eyes are revealed! What I loved about Casey during this episode was how he took on a Mentor status moreso than Jayden and helped two of the Rangers reveal their Ranger Spirit Animals!

Emma and Jake Training, the training was rather awesome to watch as the Rangers gain the power of their Spirit Animals! I was happy that the writers stuck to the original Megaforce season and gave Emma the Phoenix and Jake the Snake! Continuity is blessed. The aura power around the Rangers was awesome and a welcome addition to the scene!

Wild Force Powers, I thought I told you to sit down last week!

Jungle Fury Powers Unlocked, seeing a complete Jungle Fury team again brought me back to the wonderful days during my Jungle Fury watch! I, again, only wish that we had heard the Jungle Fury theme song during these scenes, it would have only made it all the more epic.
Regardless, the scene was fantastic from their team attacks and their individual “No Weapon” techniques!
How can we not love Jake’s growl at Gia after she congratulated him! LOVE!

Jungle Fury Megazord Keys, the scenes in the cockpit with the glowing keys are always awesome to me!
I am also a huge fan of the Spirit Animals escaping from the Megazord’s chest! Even though it is not a Zord addition it is still a powerful attack!

Monster of the Day: Pacha Chamax, I actually enjoyed this monster not only because of his hard to pronounce name (the Vekar scene was hilarious when he couldn’t pronounce his name), but he actually gave the Rangers a challenge regarding their fighting style! It was because of this monster that Emma and Jake sought out Casey and gained the powers of the Jungle Fury Rangers!

Casey as a Zoo Keeper, so it looks like the hatred over Casey switching professions was premature!
From what I gathered from this episode it appeared that Casey had only appeared out of necessity! He never really worked at the Zoo, but instead moonlighted to be with the tigers and eventually meet Jake and Emma. It appears at the surveillance that Jayden had explained was true! Seeing Casey bow to the Rangers as true master was one of the best moments in this episode!

Final Thoughts

This has been my favorite Super Megaforce episode to date, because it was a “tribute” to one of my favorite seasons but it was rather superior to the other episodes.
I am very happy with the way that Super Megaforce is growing as the episodes go on, but I am sad when I think we won’t see anymore cameos until the Legendary Battle. I don’t want this momentum to stop, but it appears that the episodes will be a lull until we see the premiere of the Silver Ranger. Then Hiatus!
