Ressha Sentai ToQger: Station 5 Review

TOOT-TOOT RESSHA SENTAI TOQGER. Let’s go! Today’s episode is entitled: “Beyond the Vanishing Tracks.”

We begin our episode this week with Wagon passing out lunches! Oh my god her comments are always so inappropriate and amazing.

Suddenly, the train makes a sudden emergency stop. The train tracks are cut off and refuse to reconnect because the next station has been taken over by the Shadow Line. OH MY!

To not waste time by going around the taken over station, Mr. Conductor and Ticket give the team the Car Carrier Express Ressha. Right is sad he doesn’t get to eat his lunch now.

The car carrier arrives and the team boards their own personal cars on the carrier. I get some strong PR Turbo lighting feelings here.

The cars are powered by imingattttttion but can only go so far. The carrier shoots them off over the missing train tracks and into the city! Right’s goes too far and lands him next to a river where he hits his head on a rock.

We meet our Shadow monster of the week, Bucket Shadow, who strongly reminds me of a Kakuranger monster or Pudgy Pig from MMPR/Zyu. This monster makes everyone sad/dark by taking all their food, ie starvation. This monster scares me. haha

ToQ 2-5 make the car landings and ToQ change to stop Bucket Shadow. The team also can’t find Right!

The Crows and Bucket Shadow are too much for the team and Bucket Shadow leaves the hurt team to find more food.

Back at the river, Right wakes up to a the smell of Ramen… The group that found him wants Right to leave because they do not have enough food for him. Suddenly, the group finds Right eating their last Cup of Noodle who then spills it. Right realizes what he did and tries to get the group to imagine food (thinking that imaging it would materialize the food).

This pisses the group off so they send Right away!

At the main Shadow Line train base, Bucket Shadow fills Baron Nero in on his starvation plan.

During this, Madame Noire suggests that the darkness is for Grita, but Baron Nero disagrees. He thinks all the darkness is for the imminent coming of the Emperor of Darkness. This spat is interesting in that it shows some fractionating in the villain group…

Baron Nero is also tired of Grita and Madame Noire’s betrothal talk. hehehe Love.

Back at the river, the ToQgers arrive looking for Right. Just then, Right brings both groups salmon and bamboo shoots for lunch! The camping group feels bad that they threw him out and yet he comes back and brings them food. How sweet Right.

After the feasting, Bucket Shadow shows up for some food too. The team morphs and Right is pissed at Bucket Shadow for taking food away from everyone.

Right secures Bucket Shadow to a tree with train tracks and eats a salmon skewer in front of him to torture him (he tries to first in his suit lololol). I think this is pretty funny, but Right’s immaturity does shine through here a little.

Right loses it and takes Hikari’s ressha so he can shove the tunnel axe down Bucket Shadow’s throat. He also takes Mio’s ressha so he swing a hammer at him as well. I find Right’s taking of the different ressha to be a little selfish and annoying. It’s obvious that the writers want you to notice this childish behavior, but still bothersome for me. lol

This week’s Coupling Bazooka Rainbow Rush final attack was “A Real Big Fish.” Yes, a giant fish ate Bucket Shadow and exploded him. Yes.

The Car Carrier is able to mend the missing tracks so the ToQ-Oh trains can cross to save the team from the now giant Bucket Shadow!

Who then call upon the Car Carrier Express to form the ToQ-Oh Car Carrier mecha.

It’s final attack, the Car Carrier Dash, is aesthetically pretty cool looking, but I still have an issue with the cars looking like Monopoly cars. Just saying.

Can we just take a moment to notice Kagura moving to sit with Mio and then leaning her heard on her. They are too precious.

After the fight, the team feeds the town. Soon after on the train, Mr. Conductor explains to the ToQgers that they must find the other missing auxiliary trains scattered across the land. Right exclaims that he saw one when scavenging for food in the forest earlier! (The ToQ Tank)

Lastly, we are left with a shot of a device on the outside of the train, which we learn is General Schwarz’s eavesdropping tool! OH NO.

Review

I enjoyed this episode and the monster that harkens back to other past Sentai/PR monsters. The biggest highlights from this episode include General Schwarz’s eavesdropping and Right’s character development that he is caring, but also incredibly immature still. The Car Carrier mecha was fun, but the cars were a little too childish or  Monopoly-y for my taste. This was a pretty straight forward, funny at times episode with a new added toy placement. haha I give this a 6 out of 10 since it wasn’t a life changing episode or anything. haha

Next week we get the lost ToQ Tank!

Until next time, this has been SimplyScott1/PowerSentai. Stay imaginative!
