Megaforce Episode 17 “Staying On Track” Episode Review

I have to say that even with the various missteps in this episode “Staying on Track” was another Megaforce episode that was full of action! The many epic fights with Metal Alice and the Megazord battle made up for the minor annoyances. Because this episode had so much action and not a lot of story development it may be a little harder to discuss what I liked and disliked besides the action, but let’s get to the summary and see what we have!

We open on a nervous Tensou wondering where the Rangers have gone today.
Gosei reveals he’s given the Rangers the day off to rest!

In fact, the Rangers are out and about having an awesome time sliding down a hill.

Noah and  RoboKnight enjoy a chess match, but RoboKnight is confused by the idea of fun

As Noah attempts to explain it to him, he makes his next move on the chess board.
However, RoboKnight bests him once more.

Jake arrives to congratulate RoboKnight with a high-five.
Of course, this has to be explained as well

With hilarious consequences!

In the underwater base, Vrak proposes that a new plan is in order.
Destroy the Rangers with their own primitive technology.
Trains.

Metal Alice heads to the surface and begins her plan, laughing at the chaos the humans will experience once the trains are no longer on time.

Meanwhile a kid, who will remain nameless, is anxiously awaiting his mother to arrive via the same train that Metal Alice is messing with!

Metal Alice introduces herself to the mainframe room of the train system and destroys the controls!

Back underwater, Metal Alice shows that all of the trains have begun to stop.

Tensou Calls the Rangers and they morph and arrive to Metal Alice’s new location at the train station

Alice had planned on destroying the nearest power station but the Rangers interrupt her and begin a battle!

RoboKnight arrives alongside then and a long monologue about how humans should be the slaves of robots begins!

Metal Alice laughs at RoboKnight for being their ally and the two spar, she calls him a disgrace and leaves them.

The Rangers search for more transportation centers to protect them from Metal Alice, the Rangers spread out.

RoboKnight, stationed back with the trains, is confronted by the nameless boy and the two discuss what “missing someone” really means.

Meanwhile, Metal Alice steps up her game and launches a bomb on the train tracks. The Rangers have 8 minutes to stop it.

Of course, Alice does not make this easy for them and launches a barrage of Loogies!

Troy alerts the others of the bomb on the tracks and commands the Rangers unite.

As RoboKnight attempts to join the others, Metal Alice advises him to join with her and Vrak!
To the humans, he’s only a machine. The choice is his.

As time ticks down the Rangers attempt to take care of the Loogies with their Ultra Mode Power

Meanwhile, Robo Knight takes on Metal Alice attempting to explain how valuable the human life can be.

The Rangers step in front of RoboKnight and protect him from Alice’s attacks, which confuses and enrages her!

After she blasts the Rangers away Metal Alice goes for RoboKnight once more and the two have an epic battle!

RoboKnight gains one over on Metal Alice and appears to defeat her for the moment.
RoboKnight sends the Rangers to stop the bomb!

But with only :12 seconds left! Metal Alice shaves a few seconds off and the tracks explode!

Her override system destroyed the track’s bridge and the train is coming fast!

When the Rangers do not give up, Gosei grants them one more new power!

The Rangers call upon Gosei Jet for help!

The Five Zords are summoned and save the train from destruction!

Alice becomes more enraged that her plans have failed and uses the Zombolts to make herself grow!

Using a new Power Card the Rangers combine to become the Gosei Jet Megazord

Together with the Gosei Grand Megazord it’s time to take on Metal Alice!

Metal Alice has been damaged and vows revenge on the Rangers!

It is a fierce battle between Robots and Megazords, the Rangers vow to do whatever they can to protect this world with all their powers!

The Rangers decide to unleash their new Victory Charge, a powerful ax in the Eagle Mechazord’s mouth!

With a Jet Strike, the Rangers destroy Metal Alice!

Alice is not defeated however and returns to her master.

Vrak is angry but reveals his plans for her continue and tells her to repair herself.

At the train station RoboKnight watches on as the boy meets with his mother and waves adoringly at them.

The Rangers laugh that RoboKnight is changing but there’s still much more to learn!

Final Thoughts

As I’ve said before there is not a lot to this episode in which I can into my normal paragraph about how this will affect future episodes. In fact many of the story-lines and action scenes will not affect the show at all. I mean, we will never see Gosei Jet again. We were lucky to get it period.
Metal Alice is still my favorite behind Vrak and the fact that she was defeated and yet NOT defeated at the same time makes me like her even more. Her fight scenes with not only the Rangers but with RoboKnight as well were Sentai footage gold! She owned the Rangers several times and showed she is a force to be reckoned with. I love that she is a female villain and yet she has shown herself stronger than the Toxic Beasts and Creepox put together! But, by now you are probably used to me gushing about Metal Alice so I won’t bore you with too much more!
The Zords and the Megazord Battle was also beautiful to look at. Perfectly timed explosions, flying Eagle Axes and new Zord attacks were awesome! The Elephant’s freezing breath and the Croc’s biting action was a welcome change to the normal Zord lineup! But I can’t get over how cool the flying ax was! I’ve said this before but, I don’t remember actually seeing this footage from one of the Goseiger movies and to see it finally here in Power Rangers was very welcome! I was also a huge fan of the Gosei Jet Megazord cockpit with its fantastical blue aura over the Rangers! Plus, we got to see the individual Zord cockpits and how long has it been since we’ve seen those!?
I actually enjoyed RoboKnight this episode. He was not only sassy with the little boy but he seemed to really stand up to the Rangers and cement his position against Metal Alice! It is rare when I enjoy RoboKnight this much, but the scene with he and Noah was perfectly performed by John Mark Loudermilk and the suit actor!
The only real thing I can complain about here is the unnamed family. I just don’t get it and I mean, WHO WROTE THE LINES FOR THE KID?
Guh, hearing him say those lines was painful and I’m sure even the little boy playing that part barely got through saying them. Most of the time those scenes took away from the story we were following which was Metal Alice and Vrak being weird and wanting to make people go insane by delaying their trains.  Which is another wackadoo story-line, but whatever, so was most of MMPR lol. Although I can say that the scene between RoboKnight and the kid was rather enjoyable.
Next episode proves to be exciting as Admiral Malkor emerges from his cocoon!
