Preface
Last issue, we have new Kaiju Rangers! Now, let’s see them Go Go!
The Cover
Wish there was a bit more detail to it, but I do enjoy the concept of this cover with Godzilla and Megazord ready to face off with Rita’s head as the ground they’re moving on like lava. Would also appreciate showing off the Kaiju Rangers as well since this doesn’t indicate anything that happens in this story.
The Story
So, the new Kaiju Rangers kick butt with their new unique powers, even creating a Kaiju Power Blaster to destroy what remains of the army.
Meanwhile, the White Ranger and Jet Jaguar infiltrate Astronema’s base, coming across a tube filled with Power Coins made from the energy of the captured Rangers across the multiverse. Before they can grab them, Goldar attacks from behind, taking them down. Fortunately, they have Tommy, the King of the Rangers, with them…
Go, Godzilla Ranger, Go! (No, seriously, go! Before you destroy us all!)
With his new Godzilla powers, Tommy blasts Goldar away, triggering the intruder alarm. While Astronema storms away from Rita to deal with it, Tommy summons his Godzillazord to create a distraction while the White Ranger goes to free the imprisoned Rangers.
Soon, back on Earth, the Kaiju Rangers form their own Power Blaster to destroy what remains of the army. But, as Rita brings them back to life, the Rangers are prepared, summoning their Kaiju Zords to the fight as well and then forming the Megazord…
Kaiju Sequence Has Been Initiated!
Ending Thoughts
This came out on the same day as MMPR #122… Would you believe that I enjoyed this issue more than that one?
The action for this issue is the best that it has been. After about three issues of straight on Megazord fights, we finally break it up with some ground action. And, though we see the MMPR influence for the Kaiju Rangers with the weapons and all of that, the fights show how unique their powers are and this switches up the combat. Like Jason flying around with Rodan’s wings or Billy and Trini digging up from underground to surprise their enemy. Especially when Tommy uses Godzilla’s Atomic Breath and is such a cool visual to see how his whole visor lights up and everything. Even when they get to the zord action, they don’t form the Megazord right away. They shake things up, allowing the Kaiju Zords to work together, something that isn’t too common for the kaiju (if I believe).
Godzilla vs Mighty Morphin Power Rangers II #4 serves us some of the much-needed fun Saturday Morning Cartoon action we’ve been waiting for. T-Minus One Issue Until the End.
Random Thoughts from the Morphin’ Grid
- I will say I’m grateful that for once, I didn’t have to pull out my Pokedex (AKA Twitter) and try to find out the identities of the obscure monsters of the week from PR.
- We see some of the Power Coins here and most of them, I believe, are the Ninja Coins. There is one coin that looks like a shark, which I question if it’s who I’m thinking of…
