As a Power Rangers toy collector myself, there is nothing that I love more than villain figures! The uniqueness and design of the monster suits also interested me, and thanks to Bandai, I’m able to have a shelf of their incredible Evil Space Alien figures! And while it was always awesome to see the monsters in the show itself, some of their figures didn’t make it in the limelight.
In this article, I’ll be showcasing the villain figures that didn’t make the final cut!
MMPR
Darting Tongue Pythor
While this Snizzard-like creature may be useful with his tongue, unfortunately Lord Zedd didn’t use him to lick the Rangers down to the bone.
Rapid-Fire Steamy Meany
This unused monster, known as Enraenra in Kakuranger, wielded a variety of gases. Thankfully, we didn’t have to sit through another episode full of fart jokes.
Deluxe Calcifire
This figure was inspired by the Kakuranger monster, Ittan-momen, who used fabric to attack and blind his opponents. Lord Zedd isn’t that fashionable anyway.
Deluxe Silent Knight
Known as Hakumenrou in Kakuranger, this Knight armor is far from Knasty!
TURBO
Hammer-Hand Motion Hammeron
Based on the villain RR Rii from Carranger, this monster used his long hammer to pound into people’s guts—er, I mean he uses his hammer to beat guts into people!
DINO THUNDER
Crimson Zeltrax
While Zeltrax did have a power-up mode in the show, this bad-ass recolored figure remains a toy exclusive.
Green Triptoid
Power Rangers aren’t the only thing that come in all colors! Black-and-white Triptoids were featured on the show, but the toyline also saw green and yellow ones!
S.P.D.
“Evil Space Alien”
While Pink Krybots were never seen in the show, it’s cool to see that Broodwing sort of got an action figure. Even though his figure screams “Krybot dressed as Broodwing in drag” to me.
MYSTIC FORCE
“Evil Space Alien”
Mystic Force was too busy focusing on Nick to include this recolored Hidiac.
OPERATION OVERDRIVE
Overdrive Edition Chiller
This recolored Chiller perfectly captures the true essence of Operation Overdrive: barf.
FINAL THOUGHTS
We all know that the recolored foot soldier figures were just lazy money-makers. As for the Kakuranger figures, there could’ve been miscommunication as to why they were produced. The biggest thing that irks me, though, is that we have figures for villains never used in the show, but villains that are a staple for this series either lack figures, or don’t even get one until Samurai!
