I’ve avoided talking about this for a bit, but what the hell! Everyone else on Earth is reporting that Dean Israelite has been named Director of the Mighty Morphin’ Movie Reboot! Variety and IMDB (among many others who still report him as “in negotiations”) both “confirmed” this message days ago, but I wanted to hold off just for a bit because I really hate to report rumor and get everyone’s hopes up.
Also, Where is the official word from Saban Brands? With their excitement over announcing the project, the writers and the release date I found it rather strange that no huge announcement was made! But, I digress.I know my friend Victor is shaking his head at me right now!
So you’ve probably read everything about Mr. Israelite already, but what I am curious about the outcome that will result on film of a relatively unknown Director. His IMDB profile is pretty bare with him only directing one film (Project Almanac) and many shorts. I haven’t had the opportunity to see any of his work, but now I have a decent excuse.
Now, I didn’t go to film school or anything but I am rather intrigued by this direction prospect. I mean this guy must know what he is doing or have a rather strong vision for this movie. Knowing Saban Brands, this movie will not spare expense and is most likely extremely important for the relaunch of the brand back into mainstream. In other words. Saban Brands ain’t messing around with this movie!
I find the fact that we haven’t heard much as a sign that things are in the works; perhaps great things!
I am really hoping for more widespread news about the Reboot movie, however. With an approaching release date it’s easy to assume that Casting and more should be revealed as the 1 Year Countdown begins. But, will the release date be changed? Only time will tell!
What do you think about Dean Israelite?
The MMPR Reboot is slated for July 2016, more info here.
