Preface

If the solicits are right and Pink will just be a six-issue series, that means we’re at the hallway point, are we not? So, let’s see how this story tries to keep its momentum.

The Story

We continue on immediately after the cliff hanger of last issue, with Goldar having constructed his own war zord for his own plans. The rangers are captured and have their powers stolen five seconds after getting them Yay team. Of course Sergei didn’t exactly turn coats as much as he was forced into it. I can’t really blame the guy and neither can Kim and the rest.

I am impressed with the ingenuity Trini has of using the communicator to make a holographic projection trick to get them back out. Clichéd trick but its used well so I’ll allow it.  With their escape they also reclaim the sword of light, reigniting their powers. Yes friends, I give to you the return of the POWER HOODIE!!!

Oh Goldar, you loveable but blithering idiot. If you want to make a name for yourself in the villain game for big boys, you really need to learn how to spot and squash treachery. Better luck next time which pretty much means never!

I have to hand it to Verto. While it isn’t really that hard to trick over Goldar, his methods of enacting his plan is efficiently brutal. There isn’t a flashy battle or him trying to gloat, no this guy just wants to drown both Goldar and Kim. That’s pretty hardcore if you ask me?

I didn’t have much to theorize on in this issue as I did the last time. This time around it was mostly action and don’t take that to mean that it wasn’t good. On the contrary it made it a blast to read. All the same I would probably list this as the weakest of the issues thus far despite my praise. The first issue had the wow factor and the second kept it going with added pleasure of plot points yet to come. This one, while a completely necessary issue to be published only serves to be more of a linking bridge to much better efforts. Even so, it does deserve your money to buy it, especially if you want more of this story.

The Technical Aspects

As I said in the preface this is the halfway point. While it tells us we have three more issues to go, unless the publishers green light more issues or turn it into an ongoing, I don’t really know how this story will finish up, but I’d put my money on the six official rangers possibly getting involved in some way. It would be odd with that we had that interlude with them last issue and nothing were to come of it.

As for the covers I can’t really give much in the way of reviewing them. Like with the past issues there are loads of variants and they”re all pretty equal in my eyes. I usually try and pick the variant I feel to be the best and sums up the issue, but I don’t think any qualify. They do make for some nice posters to have though, so there’s always that.

Dear Zordon in the Great Beyond

I need a friend like Trini. Can you help a man out big Z?
