Preface
We’re back in the Power Rangers Universe and while coincidentally on the same day in real life, the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers are now in Godzilla’s world. Wild.
The Cover
Same thoughts as Power Rangers Universe #1’s cover. Love the energy swirling around this new hero debuting in this series and the whole pink aesthetic with various Pink Rangers from the franchise.
(So the cover artist for this basically said that all the choices for each Ranger on each cover are straight up just their favorites from each set. This now means, I’m just going to put my own opinions out there. Kim, Jen, and Shelby. Those choices I’m ok with. But Syd and Emma? I would’ve chosen Rose and Sarah instead. Just sayin’)
The Story
As it turns out, how our teenage Morphin’ Masters are accessing the Grid is still too unstable for them. They have only one or two more morphs before the energy kills them entirely. Ori gets to work on the Proto-Arch, but just as work starts going, the villains call the group up and tell them they’re coming. Surrender or die and all that stuff.
The Morphinaut decides that the teens need to be with their families and seals the doors of the lab to buy them some time while he tries to heroically sacrifice himself. As the Morphinaut is fighting the “General”, the General reveals that he knows who the Morphinaut is and that they have a history together. Before this history could be revealed, our Morphin’ Masters (sans Ori) get out and fight the enemies unmorphed. Just as they’re surrounded, Ori gives them all gold stars for trying. And by that, I mean, new casings for their Master Hearts that cycle the power of the Morphin’ Grid throughout the whole team.
They’re called Morphers.
And then it’s time.
New Powers!
Ending Thoughts
Fairly straightforward issue. Honestly, not a lot to say about it. This is mainly a transitional issue. It gives the Morphinaut and our villain a little more to do with a potential backstory between them. It also introduces the Dairanger suits, something I know fans have been looking forward to for a while. Art still looks great, not just for the spread of the very first morph in history, but all of the unmorphed action as well.
Power Rangers Universe #4 drives the plot forward and gives birth to six stars shining in the heavens.
Random Thoughts from the Morphin’ Grid
- Surprised that I haven’t made many Super Megaforce references? Don’t worry, I’m confident there will be more in the future.
