Preface
The big issue before the BIG issue, MMPR #50.
The Cover
I love this cover, shows off the enemies in a dynamic pose while giving us the perspective of the Rangers seeing all of these numbers at once.
The Story
Using the Tigerzord, Jason, Billy, Kimberly, and Tommy travel to Safehaven and find the streets completely deserted. At the edge of the city, Jason finds Elder Arkon (the big chicken man) and instructs him to find anyone against Kiya’s plan and bring them to a spot where they can teleport to the Tigerzord and get to safety. Soon after, Kiya finds the Rangers and tries to peacefully get the Rangers to surrender their Morphers. At that moment, the rest of the Rangers teleport to the scene and you know what time it is.
IT’S MORPHIN’ TIME!
Kiya’s forces attack, with Dayne going for the Mighty Morphin’ team and Garrison controlling the Omega Blue Zord against the other Omega Zords. While the battle is raging on, the Ranger Slayer and Xi teleport to Safehaven’s catacombs and activate the Arch, allowing Anti-Kim to step through and find the weapon they need. And, she better hurry because there’s not much time left…
Ending Thoughts
Like the recent Go Go Power Rangers issue, this is a good step towards the next chapter for our Power Rangers.
Story-wise, there’s not much here. Despite Kiya’s bad plans, it’s good to see her at least offering a chance of peace, showing that she’s not completely off the deep end. The combination of Anti-Kim and Xi is such a fun pairing. The scenes with the two of them are without a doubt my favorite out of the whole issue. But, this is the issue where the dynamic action sequences get to shine. Complemented by the colorful art, we get to see the Rangers in a wide range of fights from robot minions to one-on-one to a massive army with one giant Zord in the mix.
There’s not much else to say for MMPR #49, other than it’s good. Read it and get ready for the 50th issue of Power Rangers coming soon…
Random Thoughts from the Morphin’ Grid
- Wash your hands. This has nothing to do with the comic itself. I’m just saying you should stay indoors, wash your hands for 20 seconds and stay safe. The longer it takes everyone to do this, the longer it’s going to take for things to get back to normal.
