After an amazing premiere, the Power Rangers Movie finally hit theaters with early showings on Thursday and then Officially on Friday March 24th, 2017! The Box Office Numbers for Thursday, Friday & Saturday are trickling in (Sunday’s are projecting at the moment!)
Thursday’s Early screenings pulled in an estimated $3.6 Million, Friday pulled in $14.98 Million (includes Thursday total), Saturday $14.8 Million and Sunday is projected to bring in over $7.1 Million. PLUS the movie also made $18.7 Million overseas!
The US Box Office Total was $40.5 Million, while worldwide it is $59.2 Million!
Let’s also remember the movie is still going strong and hasn’t opened yet in some countries, it’s looking good so far!
According to Forbes: “Power Rangers proved to be just a little leggier on its debut weekend than Pacific Rim ($14m Friday/$37m weekend) and the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ($25m/$65m)” The film played 60% male, 50% over-25 and 30% under-18. The overall CinemaScore grade was an “A,” but those under 18 gave it an “A+.” Imagine that, a Power Rangers movie playing best with the actual target audience of the actual show.
So, basically don’t listen to Rotten Tomatoes, which critics gave the movie a Rotten score of 46% while the Audience gave it a solid 81%!
The Movie also surged past it’s competition in “Life” and “Chips” but sadly was not able to beat “Beauty and the Beast” in it’s second week at the top.
The fact is that the movie opened well and we have a few more weekends to gain more money to rake in more for the Box Office’s final totals! Sequels are very doable in this scenario! Stay Tuned for updates if any of these numbers change!
