Preface
Time to find out who will win in an epic showdown: Justice League or the Power Rangers!
(Hint: It’s obviously not the Power Rangers)
The Cover
Eh. It’s all right. The first cover was both teams divided respectively into their own universe, while this one has them all united to come out of the pages and punch the reader for buying this comic. The design works, but it could easily be better.
There are also some weird and minor issues with the characters on the cover. (Tommy, especially, has the weirdest helmet design I have ever seen.) Also, I feel I should mention the weird coincidence that the Power Rangers logo is partly covered by the characters hands when the Justice League logo is totally untouched.
The Story
Kim, from the last issue, is still flying over Gotham with a Batmobile in her zord’s mouth when Superman flies near her, knocks on the window, and politely tells her to pull over.
Then Green Lantern John Stewart instead of all of those other Lanterns. He tries to trap them in a bubble so the Rangers call for some Dinozord Power…
Morphinonmenal.
GL gets totally blown back and Cyborg, arriving on the scene, draws the Zords’ attention while the Flash phases into the Tyrannozord to take out Jason. Both Superman and Kim call off the fight, telling that they’re all on the same side. When everything’s all quieted down, Zack apologizes for thinking he even had a chance to beat down Batman. The Power Rangers explain that they are from an alternate Earth and that they can’t leave because they know Lord Zedd is in the DC universe.
We cut to Zedd, floating in space, when he sees a bright green light and is put into one of Brainiac’s cities. Zedd, not exactly known for being subtle, grows into giant size to confront Brainiac and bargains with him, claiming that he has the perfect Earth city for Brainiac to add to his collection.
The Justice League are then informed of multiple cities around the world being attacked by Cthulhus. Superman flies off and calls for all Justice League members to deal with this invasion and the Power Rangers offer to help.
Ending Thoughts
This issue was fun. It had fun interactions between the PR characters and the DC characters (Lord Zedd tapping on the glass is probably my favorite) and the action is explosive, practically leaping off the page. The art is fantastic….. for the most part. The characters’ expressions, especially Green Lantern’s, is out of place and sometimes downright laughable.
There’s not really that much else to say. The whole issue has been mainly the fight between the two teams. There are fun moments in the comic, but not much else actually happens. And, unlike the last issue’s ending where it’s really insane and fun and compels you to want to know what’s going on next, this ending is just there.
But, overall, you should take a look at it.
Random Thoughts from the Morphin’ Grid
- I give up on trying to put this in continiutiy. Both for DC and PR. It just makes my head hurt.
- Batman, Wonder Woman and Flash’s costumes match their costumes in the main DC comic series. Superman’s matches except for the belt. Cyborg, in the main series, glows red instead of blue. And like I said last time, John Stewart shouldn’t be here.
- I wanted to see Batman’s reaction in the Batmobile like “What am I supposed to do?”
- Is there any reason why the Watchtower didn’t pick up on Brainiac’s ship being so close to Earth’s orbit?
- Why show Austrailia and Ireland of all places?
