Today it was announced via a Press Release that Saban Brands and Nickelodeon will continue their relationship until 2016.
As we all know, Power Rangers Super Megaforce will cease airing in late 2014 which then leaves the opportunity for either two new series’ or one new series with two year long parts to air. There is no news however, whether or not the Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters adaptation will take place over 2015-2016 and have a SUPER second half or if the adaptation of Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger will be translated in 2016 into Power Rangers. Personally, I am hoping we get away from the 20+ a year episode count and go back to a more solid 32+ or more format for each year. I do not, repeat do not, want a 2-year Go-Busters adaptation! That is a terrible idea, but now that this deal has been struck once more I fear that it may happen anyways. There was a small blight of hope in promotions and treatment with Megaforce and it seems that Nick has been attempting to try a tiny bit more with this series.
I was sure hoping that Saban and Nick would sever ties after Super Megaforce, but it looks like we are going to have to put up with this toxic relationship for another two years. I, along with many other fans, have been vocal over our dislike with the treatment that Power Rangers receives on the network. However, a consensus on another network to move to escapes not only me but others as well. After the dissolution of Lost Galaxy on the Vortexx Network it is hard to imagine where Power Rangers could look for a new home. However, I can say that I will be giving Nickelodeon a few more chances with their promotion of Power Rangers Super Megaforce before I have too harsh of an opinion over the continued partnership with Nickelodeon.
