Another fantastic episode from Power Rangers Megaforce. “Who’s Cryin’ Now?” had a lot of fantastic moments and few stomach turning moments but all together it was an amazing episode that was action packed getting us all ready for Robo Knight to premiere this coming Saturday!
The storyline was pretty decent and while some of the extras proved to be annoying I think this episode gave Andrew Gray a little more time to shine than in previous episodes. I kind of knew this would come eventually because I knew that the Sentai counter of Creepox was destroyed fairly early in the season as well. Let’s get to the beef of this episode and what was great and what was not so great.
We open on a few of what the fans have called “Bulk & Skull Wannabes” or any variation thereof who seem to just want to cause random trouble with random people. The duo meet up with Troy who is walking through the school reading a book, minding his own business, when suddenly his path is blocked by the two “bullies” (Side note, I did like the music that was playing as they menacingly walked the halls)
Troy attempts to apologize and leave but for some reason they choose to tease him about being new in school. Somehow out of a school that huge they found out he was new. Not to mention the fact the school year just started so aren’t there dozens of new kids?
Emma and Noah spy on the situation and although Emma wants to step in, Noah knows to leave it to Troy.
The bullies call Troy “fresh meat” and won’t let him pass. The blonde gets super close to his face and taunts him further and asks him, “Aww, are you gonna cry?”
To which he legendarily replies, “Take a good look, Do you see any tears?” (well it was pretty awesome the first time anyways)
The bully looks intimidated for a moment and swallows hard. He orders his friend to follow and the duo leaves.
Troy joins Emma and Noah as they ask him how he keeps his cool, he just says they don’t bother him.
Meanwhile, the bullies continue to pick on people smaller than them. The blonde, Roy, takes a pet beetle from a kid in the hallway, but Troy shows up and totally owns him! He snatches his hand and reminds him to respect all creatures no matter how small.
The bullies leave once more and promise the smaller guy they will see him later.
Can we just talk about this kid for a second. First of all, how many grades does this school have? He looks 12 years old!
Second, the actor is just bad. Just a step below Cody from Super Samurai but at least Cody had a purpose.
Another problem comes from his accent, it is rather deep and you can hear it even in his minute lines.
More on this little guy later….
Aboard the WarStar ship Vrak torments Creepox with Malkor’s impatience with their promises to destroy the Rangers.
Vrak teases that Creepox failed to destroy the Red Ranger the first time and lights a fire under Creepox that will eventually send him to his doom.
Somehow, just now, I found out the kid’s name is Howie as the bullies follow him to the park and continue to mess with him.
Randomly, Creepox is trolling the forest for victims and stumbles upon the group in order to entice the Rangers out of hiding.
Creepox threatens them until they become groveling little babies.
Howie actually becomes the hero and stands up for the bullies who earlier were totally being jerks.
Personally, I would’ve just waited until the Rangers showed up, but I’m vindictive like that.
Luckily, before Creepox can harm Howie the Black and Yellow Rangers show up!
Gia takes care of Howie and then joins Jake in the fight against Creepox.
Strangely, Creepox lands a blow so hard that sends Jake and Gia from the forest into a conveniently nearby factory.
The two attempt to take him on but prove to be no match for Creepox’s strength!
Creepox uses his ultimate Meteor Shots and lands an extremely powerful blow that knocks the Rangers out of their powers!
After consulting with Gosei; Noah, Emma and Troy attempt to find the others and eventually are led to the nearby factory (which seemed to be farther than it seemed earlier) when they can’t communicate with them via the morphers.
Jake and Gia explain that Creepox basically destroyed them and Troy decides to take Noah and go after him!
Creepox begins his plan for Earth’s destruction and sends a storm of comets onto the city destroying buildings all over!
Troy and Noah confront Creepox as he grows angrier at being bested the last time he had battled Troy.
He promises it won’t happen this time., the world will belong to the Insectoids!
Red and Blue attack Creepox but their attacks don’t seem to be dealing much damage!
Even their weapons seem to deal little damage when they are used.
Creepox slashes at Troy and admits he is disappointed, he expected more from the Red Ranger.
He prepares to use his Meteor Shots but Noah steps in at the last moment and uses the Defenstream Power Card to block the attack!
The power sends the two off a cliff and their powers go out!
Noah is too badly hurt to go on and Troy knows he must exploit the red anger that Creepox has!
Troy morphs once more and begins the battle once more!
I have never seen so much morphing and de-morphing from one Ranger ever.
But as the epic battle goes on the two send more and more power at each other! The two seem evenly matched as Troy holds Creepox at bay!
Troy morphs once more, as Vrak watches from afar in his Earth armor, and delivers the coup!
A final strike with the Dragon Sword was all it took to take down Creepox!
Cursing the Red Ranger, Creepox has fallen.
The others find Noah and join Troy!
Vrak muses that Creepox let his anger destroy him and realizes he can have one last use for WarStar!
He calls upon his Zombats and makes Creepox grow!
The Rangers morph and summon their Mechazords and combine into the Gosei Great Megazord!
Creepox proves once more to be a worthy opponent!
Creepox uses his Galaxy Meteor Shots and brings the Megazord to its knees!
Gosei hears that the Rangers need more power and send them a new Power Card!
Ultra Gosei Great Megazord calls forth all of their Zords to form one Mega Megazord!
The Rangers combine into this Hyper….I mean Ultra combination and take on Creepox with a whole new power!
Creepox remains confident and begins an assault that proves to be in vain, each of the Zords attack at once and Troy uses the Victory Charge card!
With the Ultra Mega Strike, the Rangers gain another Mega Win!
Creepox, before he explodes, reminds them that the war is not over with the Insectoids!
I wish I could get an accurate picture of this moment because Jake is truly happy at their win and does a happy dance!
YouTube it 😉
Then as if you hadn’t had enough of them, the bullies learn a lesson and Roy (yeah that’s his name) decides to respect creatures big or small and befriends Howie. Aww it’s all so saccharine.
The Rangers congratulate each other on their win and finally get a smile out of Troy 😀
Final Thoughts
All together, I was happy with this episode. There was an epic battle between Creepox and Troy, not to mention his individual battles with everyone but Emma for some reason! The Megazord battle with Creepox has to be the best of the season so far and the editing of Datas from Goseiger out of the scenes was flawless (except for a few moments like the one above.) I wonder if they will ever mention why the back looks like a Dice-O machine!
I have to say that a lot of the characters shined in this episode and it was really only the extras that really bothered me. When it came to Howie all I really wanted was for him to go away and then there he was again showin’ up! The bullies were even worse and basically only received ridicule from many of the fans. But let’s hope we never have to see them again. At least we got a few funny memes out of it!
I feel that the defeat of Creepox was very well put together and again I cannot express how awesome the Megazord fight editing was! Kudos to the editors for that, I mean they only have so much to work with! The hand to hand and sword combat scenes were excellent as well! It was a little random that Troy had to morph so many times but the last one was pretty epic!
I still cannot believe that they just couldn’t call the combination HYPER GOSEI GREAT. The card totally says it and contradicts the Ultra version. I mean why not Hyper? Is something wrong with that word? The other cards not matching was a little easier to swallow but this one was just bad choices!
I know a lot of people were a little annoyed with Troy’s line “Do you see any tears?” because it was used so much and I agree. If they had used it just once or even twice it may have been more effective. Three times was way too many!
However, I am excited to see where the story goes now especially with Robo Knight coming next week!
