It’s been a long three month wait but Super Samurai premiered last weekend to 2.299 Millions viewers on Nickelodeon and I have to say I am really digging the new improvements. During the long hiatus between “seasons” of Power Rangers Samurai many of the cast members boasted about the changes coming to the show and that we as viewers would love all the new additions.
Well I do!
The Premiere episode created a really promising beginning to the Super stage of the Samurai Power Rangers.
We finally got a conclusion to Arachnitor’s story and an exciting beginning to another evil plan coming to fruition. The Sanzu river is now seeping into the Human world and its up to the Rangers to stop it!
It felt like it took forever but Antonio finally finished the Black Box that allowed Jayden to transform into his Super Form. Not only did he totally own a bunch of Moogers and Arachnitor, but he also used a new attack by adding his Lion Disk to the Black Box!
One fantastic aspect of this premiere episode was that they incorporated a lot of unmorphed fight scenes. In the beginning of the episode we join with Kevin and Mia who use their Samurai Weapons to attack Mooger dummies! That was completely epic to me and I hope we get to see more of that! Sadly, Najee’s acting has not improved, in fact its gotten worse. In most of his scenes I found myself wincing as he delivered the lines. I dare you to watch this episode and not want to roll your eyes after every line he delivers.
In following scenes where the Rangers are under the power of Octoroo’s barrier they cannot morph but keep on fighting with some awesome scenes of action! Mia’s hair even catches fire when it comes in contact with the Sanzu River water!
Then what we’ve all been waiting for, the on-screen combination of the Samurai Megazord and the Claw Battlezord!
The combination sequence was amazing and the attacks were even more awesome! We got our first look on-screen of the Red Mega Ranger with his Super Armor! We’ve already seen the Mega Shark Mode in “Clash of the Red Rangers” but it was still cool to see it in the actual show!
Not only did we get one new combination we got a second, where the Claw Armor Megazord uses a Super Cannon made up of the Octozord, Beetle, Swordfish and Tiger Zord! The Rangers can only use one shot with this cannon as it drains their symbol power, which made the suspense even better! The unleash of the Zords was epic and I hope to see this cannon fire over and over again!
Get this? We got a view from being the Rangers in the Megazord Cockpit as they aim their symbol power to destroy the mutated Nighlok!
All together, this is most likely one of my top 3 favorites of Samurai episodes so far. It was a fantastic intro to Super Samurai and with the second episode airing tomorrow I hope we can continue this trend of exciting episodes!
