A hiatus in Ranger Episodes is a good as a time as any to have a status check!
What have we learned?
Episode 9, we learn that Master Xandred has become annoyed with Deker criticizing him. Deker knows that Master X has no set plan to destroy the Red Ranger and thus sets out on obtaining his ultimate goal; a epic battle with Jayden. Later in the episode we see how angry he becomes when X’s eerie voice seeps in from the Netherworld calling for the Red Ranger.
Later, Samurai Pink saves Spike’s life and his love for her begins!
Master X’s voice continues to taunt as his anger grows larger. Mentor reveals to theRangers the story of the original Samurai Rangers who defeated Master Xandred the first time. However, Jayden’s father did not perform the sealing symbol properly.
Here we learn about the Sealing Symbol and the mass amount of power is needed to perform it correctly.
The Rangers grow more concerned fore Jayden’s safety because his family, the Shiba is the only peoeple who can use the seal!
When the Rangers finally meet the newest Nighlok, Robtish he proves to be a large problem, causing his Ranger team mates to de-morph massively injured. We leave the episode as Deker defends Jayden, after all he is his duel partner.
An epic three-way sword battle begins until Robtish fries out and retreats.
Deker reveals his power, but wants to wait to duel when Jayden is at 100%
Jayden leaves the Shiba house, to protect his friends.
Grade: 9/10
In episode 10, we learn more about Jayden’s past. His Father was the original Red Samurai Ranger and was unable to seal Xandrfed for long.
We see him give Jayden the Lion Folding Zord before he dies.
The Red Ranger goes missing and the other Rangers are concered, meanwhile Kevin comes up with a new combination for the Megazord.
Here we see our first duel between Master Xandred and Deker. X is very annoyed at him. Xandred reveals Dekers half human-half Nighlok existence.
Meanwhile Robtish is ready for revenge and attacks a playground that Jayden had stopped by. A large fight with Moogers ensues.
Teamwork is a huge part of this episode as the other Rangers come and save him at the last minute showing the Nighlok the true meaning of Team.
The Rangers morph and band together to defeat Robtish using a 5 slash combo with the Fire Smasher!
Meanwhile, as Robtish grows the Rangers finally use the Battlewing Megazord!
Mentor reveals another clue about Jayden’s secret! What could it be?

Episode 11, The Gold Ranger finally arrives! Now, many people aren’t that into Antonio. But, having watched Genta from Shinkeger be in the role I must say that Skyler is pretty similar in body type and mannerisms! I have two problems with the Gold Samurai Ranger as opposed to ShinkenGold. They changed the Sushi Changer into just a plain cell phone that doesnt even look like a morpher. BOOO on that POS. Also, Our beloved Ika is now Octozord. Which sounds cool, but it makes no sense. It’s obviously a Squid, how stupid are kids really?
The Rangers also duel with a mirror wielding Nighlok, as Antonio searches for the perfect moment to reveal himself. CUTE.
Antonio finally saves the Rangers when they need him most and finally gets his moment. He morphs with an awesome morph sequence, not to mention the Mega Mode sequence is just awesome! We get to see the Gold Ranger’s amazing moves with his Barracuda Blade!
Octozord comes out in the Zord battle which looks awesome as some scenes have been made for the US version alone.
At the end we learn that Antonio is an old childhood friend of Jayden’s who promised to return when he was strong enough, now he’s back having created his own morphers and powers.
Grade: 8/10
Episode 12, simple is a filler episode. Antonio desperately wants to get accepted into the team, but Mentor and some of the team aren’t really ready for a new member. Mentor even takes his Morpher! WHA! He made it!
Throughout the episode we see flashbacks of Jayden and Antonio when they were younger, dueling and promising each other to become powerful.
Here we learn that Jayden had given Antonio the Octozord many years ago without Mentor knowing!
The best part of this episode is of course Antonio, he’s too cute just attempting to get the others and even Jayden to accept him!
When they finally do it proves to be a good combination as they made short work of the Nighlok.
Octozord combines with the Megazord and creates the Octo-Spear Megazord with some freezing and shocking attacks!
Funniest moment was when the line up was too small for Antonio to fit, so he asks Mia to scoot over!
Grade: 7/10
Episode 13, is another filler for Antonio to get accepted. Of course the hardest one to please is Kevin.
The two work together elegantly, and the battle scenes with both of them are awesome and shows how true teamwork can work even when you don’l really like the other person HAHA.
We get our first glimpse at the ClawZord and its revealed how much of a tech genius Antonio is as he attempts to repair the Zord.
It is a little creepy how Antonio was following Kevin and even stranger that he knew he was there but didnt say anything.
Interesting plot…. together as a team they defeated the goop monster. Sick!
Before it ends, we also learn of Dayu’s and Deker’s connection…..
Grade: 6/10
Episode 14, was an amazing episode IMO. After we got away from all that “GOLD RANGER RAWWRR NO HE CANT HELP US” motif, we finally get back to being a team of Rangers. It’s Emily’s Birthday and all the Rangers are trying to surpise her, later Emily loses her spirit to a Nighlok and it hashes many emotions in the Rangers seen rarely on PR. What was amazing to me the most was how Mike was determined to save her even if it meant becoming a Nighlok himself, even slashing at the crevice where the Nighlok escaped with his Spin Sword. That, was a fantastic scene.
Antonio, it seems, hasn’t seen Deker’s human form and almost befriends him in this episode. What a twist!
In order to save Emily, they have to destroy the Nighlok before the day is out. In order to do that they need a new Zord. Antonio shows them how to use symbol power to power him up! Eventually, our monster grows!
ClawZord in action! Which rocks my socks, and they saved Emily!
Her bday goes off, but not before Emily made sure that Mia didn’t make the cake. LOL
Grade: 9/10
In episode 15, the Tengen Gate we learn a lot about the Rangers as a whole. We also meet Daisuke who gaurds the Tengen gate and the Shiba’s most powerful weapon, the Black Box. We learned that the former Samurai Rangers once defeated the Nighloks at the gate. When all of the Rangers’ symbol power is cast into the Box it will create the most powerful Samurai weapon.
Meanwhile, Octoroo poisons Jayden and the Rangers must stand up to wicked Nighlok who is attempting to get the Sealing Symbol for himself to seal Xandred away, Octoroo may have the same idea.
Mia and Kevin learn of an old legend of a woman who gave up her soul to the Nighlok King to save her lover.
Could this be Dayu and Deker?
This is a two parter, the other Rangers are hurt bad and Jayden is poisoned.
But, Octoroo departs as Deker takes Jayden off his hands.
Grade: 8/10
Episode 16 is the last ep before the hiatus. It is the conclusion of Episode 15. It’s interesting how Deker basically saves Jayden but it makes sense, he must preserve him for the perfect duel to satisfy Uramasa. Waters heal Jayden who eventually meets up with Antonio who attempts to save him.
In his anger, Master X caused Arachnitor to mutate and become an even larger challenge to the Rangers. We even get to see the Gold Ranger take on Octoroo a bit! Now thats cool! JS JS
Here in Shinkenger, is where we would see the Super Samurai Mode. Instead, the Rangers use a quintuple slash and create a rainbow like swirl around the Gold Ranger who uses the attack to finish off the first form.
Grade: 7/10
There’s no telling whats to come with this Era of Power Rangers. Honestly, it could go either way. I for one am excited how they will create original footage for Season 2.
