Thoughts of Racism in MegaForce? Yellow Ranger Cast?

Fan favorite, Sundai Love, for the new Yellow or Pink MegaForce Ranger was out of the running yesterday and took to Twitter to express her frustration! I happened to follow her and offered my condolences because I had picked her as one of my picks as well.
However, she brought up the reason why she wasn’t chosen. According to the casting “call” she received they relayed to her that she was great and it wasn’t her acting ability that she was not chosen. Apparently, it was because an African-American Male was already cast and that they couldn’t have an African-American Female was well.
I, among many other fans, have suddenly gained a lot of interest in these tweets. That Saban Brands gave her this reasoning for not taking her into the cast; is it not noteworthy? It is true that there have been multiple Caucasian and even Hispanic Rangers in one season, but never has there even been two African-American Rangers! (Or even one African-American Pink Ranger) Is that racism or is it just the production attempting more diversity? That could very well be the answer, but with the reasoning given to her it seems a little racist that the idea of two Rangers of the same race is not acceptable when it has been done many times over the last 20 Years!
However, let me say that I in no way am implying that Saban Brands is racist, but isn’t that an interesting reasoning given to Sundai?
This article is by no means my opinion but only a catalyst to start discussion and find out the theories of other Ranger fans. I personally don’t think Saban is racist otherwise they wouldn’t strive to have an even diverse cast each year. But it is strange that there can be two Caucasian or two Hispanic Rangers but not two African-Americans right?
In a little more happy news, it is rumored that Ciara Hanna has been cast as the Yellow MegaForce Ranger. It is only rumor at this point as the official word from Saban Brands has not been issued. However, most fans are taking this as cannon including several reputable Ranger sites, bloggers and tweeters.
Ciara changed her picture and Twitter background to Yellow and stated she had good news!
This is the only Ranger we know of so far that could have been cast!

I think we should hope for the best actresses and actors to get the job but I understand that they always want to get a mix of ethnicities to inspire many kids. I seriously wouldn’t mind if there were 2 African Americans in one team for example.
I wish they’d mix it up as I am also tired of blonde yellow rangers. Lily, Summer, Ronny, Emily and now Gia.
If they have another ranger team for Super Megaforce (thinking goseiger vs. gokaiger footage) then maybe Sundai is a possibility of that.
Sundai is very beautiful and it would’ve been nice to add her. I mean, they always cast some pretty stinkin hot babes in power rangers. So why not her?
I would rather Ciara be the Pink Ranger than Yellow. She looks too similar to Emily.
Um let’s see I’m extremely mad because they have never had a black pink ranger! They haven’t had a female African American cast as a ranger since Katie in Time Force! There have been some seasons with no black people at all and I say black become if they are new zealanders or Australian like Will from PROO they are not African American. I love Sundai! I wanted her to win Antm cycle 13! She wouldve been a great addition!
But it’s true only one black ranger for every 3 white or hispanic rangers and one Asian ranger.

The numbers speak for themselves. I thought they should’ve related the new Megaforce rangers to be the children of past rangers and I wanted Sundai to be Aisha’s daughter and let Karan return!
i c ur point about the black actors. but u missed out shane from NS. i like the idea of 1 or more of the new rangers 2 b kids of the originals. i would like this series 2 b set back in angel grove & brink back bulk & spike!

hey I think they should hgave it too sundai, but i want stop there. she will make it elsewhere. I never let a goal or dream slip me by. I think she still have a chance at another show. Much better then power rangers. Even if i am a big fan, but thats weird, that this world is still racist. theyc an call it whatever. as a mixed male. I get mess over because i brown skined.
I think it’s not fair that her race is keeping her from her role. She sounds so excited to be a Power Ranger, would probably do a great job acting and make it very successful. Yeah it would look a little weird with two african americans on the same team, but only because we’ve never seen that before, and it kinda is unfair that there’s not really a cap on white rangers. Plus, we haven’t had an african american female ranger in quite sometime, so I think we should have another one, and she should get the role. Plus, she looks pretty hott.
While Power rangers is by no means racist, with every ranger color having been portrayed with a diversity in more than just race, I do hope that this was not really the ONLY reason she was not picked. Disney and Saban have always pushed the diverse cast angle but Ciara is going to have to prove her acting skills in the show to justify this.
i agree i don’t think this is the ONLY reason she wasn’t chosen for the pink ranger. Saban must of had another reason but i think she just went for the race card.
I hope Ciara dyes her hair before they can start shooting. I don’t want another blonde Yellow Ranger. I’m sick of that.
in power rangers over the past 20 years they’ve never had more than one african-american actor in a tean so this shouldn’t be a surprise for sundai! i like the casting of ciara and the isn’t the 1st blonde yellow ranger.
